Broncos Preseason Takeaways: Week 3
On Friday, Denver prepared to take on the Washington Redskins for their first road game of the preseason. Broncos dominated the game coming away with the win 29-17. The starters took a majority of the action, playing up until the second half. Overall, the Broncos flourished making plays on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Before halftime, the Broncos offense had out-dueled the Washington offense immensely. Denver dominated in first downs (11-7), total yardage (206-110), passing yardage (139-41), competition percentage (66.7 to 46.2), yardage per play (6.65 to 3.44), and average per rushing attempt (5.58 to 4.06).
Case Keenum Is The Real Deal
Over three preseason games, new Denver quarterback Case Keenum has posted 35 completed passes without throwing an interception or fumbling. This is why Keenum was brought to the team, to execute mistake-free-football. Case finished his night against the Redskins going 12/18 for 148 yards with a passer rating of 91.9.
Have Yourself a Preseason Royce Freeman
Royce Freeman, the projected starting RB after this performance has scored a TD in every game he has played in so far. Royce ran a 24-yard touchdown against Washington adding to his resume why he should be starting.
Royce Freeman forced 51 missed tackles at Oregon in 2017. He's still tough to tackle now that he's in the NFL. https://t.co/OTPWXSsiW3

Emmanuel Sanders got in on the fun as well by scoring a 27-yard TD with 4:37 left in the second quarter. Once again, Janovich threw a key block on D.J. Swearinger, creating space for Sanders to evade him for the TD.
“Man, I had to walk up to him and tell him, ‘Thank you for that block,'” Sanders said. “Jano, man, he’s the best. Best fullback in the league.”

Bradley Chubb and Von Miller handled things on the defensive side combining for five quarterback hits (three for Miller, two for Chubb) compared to the entire Redskins defense only being able to get four as a team.
