At the beginning of the season, there were questions as to whether the Seahawks operation should be disbanded. Some wanted Pete Carroll fired, and some believed it was just time to make some changes to the personnel altogether. Well, now the Seahawks sit at a (4-3) record and the team seems to be finding their footing after a rough start… and that newfound success can be attributed to Russell Wilson.
Over the last few weeks, Wilson has been playing out of his mind. He is not being pressured as much so he has more time to get the ball off. The Seahawks have been able to get their run game going over the last month or so and that has really allowed Wilson to shine. Last week against the Detroit Lions, Wilson had a stat sheet that read: 14/17 pass attempts, 248 passing yards, and 3 TD. With a passer rating of 158, that is the best game he has had so far this season.
Efficient Passer Rating
Going through his statistics, Wilson has improved with every game. His passer rating has increased every game since week 1. Tyler Lockett has been playing well and he has been able to rely on David Moore in the red zone. Also, with Doug Baldwin coming back, Wilson has more options in the passing game. With the use of Chris Carson and Mike Davis, Wilson doesn’t have to make the best play every down, he can lean on the run game a little more. The run game is finally getting established and that is good news for them as they take on the Chargers in Seattle this week.
Wilson has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks since he the entered the NFL. He is having a great season so far and has the stats to prove it. The Seahawks have been playing better on all sides of the football and if they can beat the Chargers at home on Sunday, that will then put the NFL on notice.
