USC Has Found Their Starting Quarterback

USC has found their starting quarterback for the 2019 season. After a quarterback battle that lasted almost until the start of the season. The Trojans have named JT Daniels their starter.

He fought out three other potential starters in Jack Sears, Matt Fink, and Kedon Slovis. This was a tough decision for the coaching staff. Helton said he believes he has four quarterbacks who could all start for teams across the country. Daniels earned his starting job back in the end though and is looking to make up for last year.

He had good statistics in 11 games last year but just could not put the wins together, passing for 2,672 yards with 14 touchdowns, giving him a passer rating of 128.6. This was not enough to get the Trojans a winning record, however. USC finished the season with a very uncharacteristic 5-7 standing.

Daniels will come in with a stacked set of receivers and a better understanding of the game, however, he will have a new offense with Graham Harrell taking over as the offensive coordinator. He is hoping to improve on those numbers from last year and get the Trojans back to competing.

The ultimate goal, as stated by athletic director Lynn Swann, is to win the PAC-12. Daniels was expected to be named the starter, so now that he has, the team can set their sights to the first game of the season. They will host Fresno State at the newly renovated coliseum. This is where we will get our first look at the freshly named starter. The question is, can he hold that spot down with three impressive backups sitting right behind him, waiting for their opportunity to get in the game and show what they have?

Heading into his sophomore season, the expectations will be very high for JT Daniels.
