As WWE Fastlane draws near, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin look to be in the main event. However, there were some twists and turns in their journey to get there. It was all thanks to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for those twists.

The New Day wanted to have a pancake eating contest. Only they were interrupted by Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable.

Bobby Roode wanted to defend his title in a U.S. title open challenge. He knew who he wanted to defend against, only it didn’t turn out the way he wanted it.

All of this and more went down on Tuesday. Here is my recap to go further into what happened on this show.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler was supposed to happen. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn attacked them all around the arena.

Analysis: A really unpredictable way to start off the show. A positive unpredictable way that is. Owens and Zayn were really aggressive in their attacks.

Charlotte Flair def. Sarah Logan

Analysis: Okay match. There’s not much story to this feud really. Sarah did perform pretty good though.

Baron Corbin def. Kevin Owens to be in the WWE Championship match at Fastlane

Analysis: Both men fought a really competitive match. It does make Owens look weak though. He couldn’t beat Corbin when Corbin wasn’t 100%.

Randy Orton accepts Bobby Roode’s U.S. open challenge. Jinder Mahal interrupts and takes out both of them.

Analysis: Good promo by the three of them. I’m glad they saved a match with Roode and Orton for possibly a pay per view.

Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable interrupt The New Day’s pancake eating contest.

Analysis: Entertaining segment. Big E is always a character and sold his anger very well.

The New Day def. Benjamin and Gable

Analysis: Okay match. Nothing much to report on. Only curious to see what they do with Gable and Benjamin next.

Dolph Ziggler def. Sami Zayn

Analysis: The match itself was a pretty good main event. Again, it makes Zayn and Owens look weak for them to lose these. They attacked Corbin and Ziggler earlier and they got beat by them.

Overall: Another decent SmackDown. We’ll see how they build the WWE title 5 way heading into WWE Fastlane.
